What is the CATS Program?
The County Attorney Traffic Safety (CATS) Program is an optional diversion program for traffic citations. CATS participants have the opportunity for the court to dismiss their traffic citations without the citation showing up on their driving record or having points deducted from their driver’s license.
How do I complete CATS?
To complete the CATS Program, a participant must register, pay the fee, and complete a one-hour online course. After completing the course, the County Attorney’s office will file a motion to ask the court to dismiss the citation.
Am I eligible?
- Eligibility is at the discretion of the Boyle County Attorney’s Office. Some eligible offenses may include: Speeding, Disregarding a Stop Sign, Improper Passing, Careless Driving, etc.
- You are not eligible if you already paid for your ticket; signed up for State Traffic School; have a Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); completed the program within the last year; or received a citation for Speeding 26+ over.
How do I sign up?
- To register for the program, please call 859-238-1121 or email Karen Elder karen.elder@boylecountyky.gov or Tina Cox tcox@prosecutors.ky.gov with your request to apply. Once your application is approved, you will receive login information and instructions on how to pay via email.
- If your application is reviewed at least two weeks before your arraignment date (your first court appearance), our office will notify the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office and ask for your court date to be extended so that you may complete the course.
- If you were referred to CATS by the prosecutor or judge in open court, please register for the program as stated above.
