Chris took office as the Boyle County Attorney on January 7, 2019, and is currently serving his second term in office. He also is legal counsel for the Boyle Fiscal Court. Chris has focused on strengthening community safety, improving victim services, and supporting innovative approaches to rehabilitation and public service.
A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Herron earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1994 with a double major in Finance and Marketing. He went on to receive his law degree from the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in May 2004 and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in October 15, 2004. Throughout his tenure as County Attorney, Chris has worked closely with drug treatment facilities and implemented a Rocket Docket program where eligible persons charged with drug felonies receive amended misdemeanor charges upon successful completion of a 6-month substance abuse program. Chris was instrumental in applying for a VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) funded grant for the creation and funding of a full-time Victim’s Advocate position in November, 2019. When grant funding was reduced Chris successfully lobbied for the Victim’s Advocate to be fully funded by the Prosecutor’s Advisory Counsel (PAC) in October, 2023.
Chris’ dedication to service extends beyond the courthouse as he has served on several boards and clubs in the community including CASA of the Bluegrass, Community Arts Center, Kiwanis, and the Danville/Boyle County UK Alumni Club. Chris has also been deeply involved in local youth sports. He previously served as Assistant Golf and Tennis Coach for Boyle County High School and, in 2025, was named Head Coach of the Boyle County High School Girls Tennis Team. His commitment to faith and community is also reflected in his service as a deacon of the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
